Job Description

GPI seeks a Senior Environmental Engineer/Scientist to assist us with growing our team in either our Babylon or Manhattan office. We are seeking someone with a good work ethic, a desire to learn and teach, a willingness to work collectively with our team, and the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Support the preparation and development of NYSDEC/USACE Joint Permit Applications, including NEPA and SEQR Compliance (Environmental Assessment Forms and Environmental Impact Statements); familiarity with NYSPSC Article VII, Part 102, and Article 10 preferred but not required
  • Prepare reports involving environmental regulatory compliance and environmental impact analysis
  • Conduct construction and post-construction environmental inspection and monitoring to ensure compliance with Stormwater and other environmental permit conditions
  • Perform wetland delineations, natural community mapping, rare, threatened, and endangered species surveys, function and value assessments, environmental permitting, post-construction monitoring, and wetland mitigation/restoration

What You Bring to the Table:
  • BS (MS preferred) in an environmental discipline and knowledge of soils, vegetation, and hydrology
  • 15 years of environmental experience, preferably in the tri-state region
  • Experience and proficiency with GIS required
  • Knowledge of NYS SWPPP Permit compliance, including knowledge of MS4 requirements
  • Marketing and proposal preparation skills to aid pursuing in new opportunities

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
