Wood Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Phoenix Design Center. Candidate will serve as the Electrical engineer-of-record (EOR) on a variety of mining and industrial sector projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as Electrical discipline lead on projects, assuming responsibility for the production of contract documents, including plans and specifications, calculations, technical memorandums and reports
  • Effectively coordinate the electrical design with multi-discipline project teams and clients
  • Lead electrical engineering designs and electrical equipment upgrades for: low and medium voltage facility power distribution systems, substations, UPS, switchgear, motor control centers, drives, wiring diagrams, lighting systems, emergency and standby systems, receptacles, conduits, cable trays, duct banks and telephone/communications systems
  • Perform and/or oversee the development of calculations; including arc-flash analysis, short-circuit analysis, circuit sizing, feeders, load and voltage drop, and electrical equipment sizing
  • Participate in the development of piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Prepare equipment specifications, data sheets, material take-offs and supplier submittal requirements for electrical procurement packages, perform technical bid evaluations of supplier proposals, and interface with equipment suppliers
  • Prepare electrical design specifications and installation/construction specifications
  • Develop and maintain electrical equipment lists and electrical load lists
  • Participate in HAZOP Reviews
  • Knowledge of hazardous/classified area design, fire detection, and protection system design Provide engineering services during construction including RFI responses, submittal reviews, and site visits
  • Ensure compliance of designs with all applicable codes and regulations
  • Perform technical reviews for electrical designs developed by other teams
  • Support business opportunities, proposal preparation, and interviewing
  • Prepare the electrical sections of proposals, scopes of work, and engineering man-hour estimates for various project stages (pre-feasibility, feasibility, detail engineering, etc.)
  • Monitor discipline scope, schedule, and budget against the project plan
  • Effectively manage the execution of work and electrical team members to prioritize and balance competing project demands, and to resolve issues in a team environment
  • Mentor other engineers and design personnel in technical excellence and career growth
  • May be asked to support commercial, municipal, and government sector projects
  • Position is based in Phoenix but may require periodic travel to client and projects sites


Skills / Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • ABET accredited Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Have an active PE license in Arizona, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
  • Ability to obtain NCEES registration for licensure in other states
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in the design of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems for various types of facilities
  • Experience in developing FEED/EPCM format specifications
  • Experience in developing electrical construction plans, specification, cost estimates and schedules
  • Experience in conducting electrical independent technical design reviews
  • Comprehensive knowledge and application of the National Electric Code
  • Knowledge and understanding of NFPA 70E, 101, and 820
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-discipline project teams
  • Effective written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision on medium to large electrical power systems on various types of facilities
  • Must pass drug test, fit-for-duty medical exam, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registration in multiple states and/or NCEES registration
  • I&C design experience related to SCADA, control systems, control panels, instrument lists and specifications, development of network architectures, PLC design, control strategies and control schematics
  • Knowledge of applicable design standards, such as API, ISA, PIP, IEC, IEEE, ISO, NACE
  • Experience using SKM or ETAP or ESDA
  • Ability to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on projects
  • Experience in Design-Build project execution
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the design of power systems for industrial water/wastewater treatment and pumping systems
  • Self-motivated and enthusiastic, willingness to learn, ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit


Physical Demands:
  • Work is typically performed in an office setting
  • While performing site visits or inspections, may require bending, stooping, climbing, and carrying
