Coordinates With: CFO, Vice President, Project Managers, Project Administrative Assistants, Accounting, Field Employees

JOB SUMMARY: MSI seeks a Senior Accountant to be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, preparing sales tax returns, assisting with audit preparations, and assisting with monthly close process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with monthly close process, including analyzing account activity and preparing and posting required journal entries to ensure appropriate recording of revenues and expenses.
  • Responsible for proper accruals, reserves and review of trial balances and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity.
  • Retrieve transaction information from vendor/bank websites.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and reconcile with general ledger.
  • Assist with internal and external accounting audits, taxation requirements, and various corporate reports.
  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies by interaction with accounting, finance, and operations teams.
  • Support management reporting, budget, and forecast activities.
  • Day-to-day accounting department activities, including the timely and accurate accounting and reporting of all transactions, including cash transactions, AP invoicing, and job costing.
  • Back up for payroll processing.
  • File sales tax & use tax returns.
  • Assures that effective communications and teamwork are maintained within areas of responsibility.
  • Keep the CFO informed of work status, internal controls concerns and provide input on accounting matters.
  • Recommend and implement techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
  • Safeguard company assets and ensure financial control.
  • Evaluate the internal accounting controls of the company and making necessary recommendations for improvements. Monitor compliance with the internal controls and operating procedures of the company.
  • Prepare and distribute other reporting as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
  • BSc/BA in Finance or Accounting
  • 5 years or more of related Finance or Accounting experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot tables, Macro's, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy with strong analytical skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ethical and discreet
  • Aptitude for learning and teaching others new processes, procedures, and software
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well others across all levels of the company
