EMD Serono in Billerica, MA is hiring a Scientist to join the Immuno-Oncology platform. In this role, the Scientist will develop and implement in-vitro cell-based assays to characterize small molecules or biologics that modulate the tumor immune environment and enhance the anti-tumor immune response; analyze critical data, perform meticulous data recording and presentation of data. In addition, the candidate will be expected to develop, evaluate, and implement well-controlled in vitro experiments to interrogate target biology, and generate proof of concept data supporting target Go/No Go decisions.

Responsibilities:

Independently plan and design experimentsEstablish and optimize biochemical and cellular immune assaysEffectively record and report scientific resultsInterpret study observations with attention to detailsActively interact and closely work with team membersParticipate in an interactive, dynamic, team-oriented cultureEstablish a laboratory dedicated to immuno-oncology in vitro research and ensure that studies are conducted in compliance with all internal laboratory practices as well as GRPAssure timely documentation of the experiments and corresponding results in compliance with company standardsDevelop novel cell-based assays or platforms for functional target identification, characterization, and biomarker developmentContribute to the literature-based assessment and experimental characterization and validation of new therapeutic conceptsCo-ordinate with other lab members and manage the workflow in the laboratory (when needed)Provide training to junior laboratory staff membersSecure sufficient hands-on support in the laboratory by recruiting trainees and interns

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, or other Science discipline ORMaster's degree in Immunology, Cell Biology, or other Science discipline with 3+ years of experience in Immunology and/or Immuno-Oncology

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in Biological SciencesExperience with cell-based assays: co-culture assays, reporter assays, cytokine analysisHigh proficiency with immuno-assays including flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine release assays, IncuCyte live cell imaging, etc.Knowledge of IHC and pre-clinical biomarkersTissue culture: cell line and primary cell cultureExperience in Molecular Biology: qPCR, Western blotting, ELISAExperience with Meta-analysis of data from public databasesExcellent communication, organization and multitasking ability combined with the capacity to quickly adapt to project priorities to deliver data packages according to established timelinesAbility to interact with senior management in matrix organizationTrack record of scientific accomplishment and publications in the advancement of new therapeutic conceptsCapacity for providing intellectual input, creative insight and assisting in the design of project work-plansAbility to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary project teamsRSREMD
