Job Profile Summary

Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Ph.D. Methodologist is to mentor and guides students to develop into scholars and methodologists during the dissertation phase, making it possible to contribute to advancing innovative theories. The students are encouraged to utilize qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research.

The qualified applicant will have an earned Ph.D. The applicant needs to have documented experience in any or all the following methodologies: qualitative, quantitative or mixed-methods research. The applicant will be expected to guide and mentor student methodology during the dissertation process. Online faculty must have regular access to and familiarity with the Internet/e-mail.

Job Description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Mentor and guide students to develop into scholars and Methodologists during the dissertation phase.

2. Actively engage with students and follow up on emails in a prompt manner.

3. Grade assignments and leave substantive feedback.

4. Online faculty must have regular access to and familiarity with the Internet/e-mail.

5. Stay compliant on administrative tasks such as the Monday check-in, etc.

6. Strictly adheres to Liberty University policies, representing the University in an exemplary manner.

7. Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU's mission.

Qualifications, Credentials, and CompetenciesMinimum Qualifications:1. Ph.D. in a related field (with professional experience) required.2. Experience with a single methodology.Preferred Qualifications:1. Methodology experience in multiple methodologies.2. Three years or more of full-time online teaching experience at the graduate levels and a strong record of professional achievement.3. History of publication in academic or trade journals. Established research and/or professional content agenda.

  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to convey clear, well articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English in order to convey messages and correspond in an articulate and professional manner.
  • Possess public communication skills that allow professional representation of Liberty University to a variety of business and community customers and associates.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak in order to effectively communicate orally.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb stairs to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel or stoop in order to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

The working environment in which one will typically perform the essential functions of this position is a private work space to conduct teaching responsibilities as indicated.
