Summary of Job Responsibilities

Work as a member of the Safety team and in coordination with the HR and Production departments to provide safety program support and training to all associates.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Work daily with Safety and Production departments to provide Safety program support.

• Serve as Chairperson to the Safety Inspection team for assigned shift

• Follow Hazard ID process in Velocity from submission to closure

• Correct any hazard IDs that don't require complex corrective actions

• Assist Supervisors with conducting incident and near miss investigations

• Serves as lead point of contact on the floor for Accident investigation, Hazard Assessments, Weekly Safety Inspections and BBS scheduling and reporting

• Supports Safety programs as directed by EHS Rep (Examples: Hearing Conservation testing, IH monitoring, SDS materials, Monthly OSHA training).

• Provide safety training to floor associates as needed

• Assists in restocking first aid cabinets, Hearing PPE, Safety glass cleaning stations as needed.

• Support production as necessary

NECESSARY SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations pertaining to industrial manufacturing.

• Working knowledge of existing Hendrickson Safety programs and Production policies and procedures.

• Ability to react in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to analyze and resolve potential safety issues with consideration of scheduling changes and line stoppages.

• Solid communication skills.

• Ability to recognize and identify areas for improvement.

• Ability to adapt to change and take proactive approach.

• Competent with all required documentation and computer software (Including: Microsoft Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

• Ability and willingness to work necessary hours across all shifts to achieve high standards.

• 2 years of experience in manufacturing environment, preferably in welding or metalworking industry.

• Assist on other shifts as needed.

• Able to successfully complete OSHA 30 hr. course

• No disciplinary write ups in the last six months, outstanding attendance and exemplary performance.

• Prior First Responder Training or experience is preferred or willing to be First Responder required

• Member of the Hendrickson Safety Committee is preferred

• Hendrickson Train the Trainer certification is preferred

Physical Demands

  • Constant standing, walking, reaching, balancing, cervical spine motion, lower extremities, and simple graspFrequent use of firm grasping, fine manipulation, and pitching
  • Frequent forward bending, squatting, kneeling, and climbing
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50lbs

This position will be part of the production team and will work their assigned occupation for first half of shift performing all safety related tasks during second half of shift.
