About the role:

WEG Electric Corp. has a great opportunity for a Safety Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for monitoring environmental and safety initiatives in order for the company to comply with related requirements and implement best practices. Work independently and with other areas on environmental and safety projects to create a safe workplace by assisting with field observation, inspections and guidance on executing work safely.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support all areas to implement EHS actions as a result of inspections, audits and project improvements.
  • Assist with the development of safety training material and educate employees on safety requirements and best practices.
  • Coordinates safety-related portion of orientation with Human Resources for the onboarding of new employees and/or tranferred ones.
  • Updates work instructions to consider proper PPE.
  • Follow up safety audits and inspections in all facilities.
  • Monitor and report safety key performance indicators and corrective actions. Monitor open audit reports.
  • Support site leaders to answer OSHA and Environmental entities, when not related to workers' compensation.
  • Coordinate the EHS schedule for all sites, including fire and shelter-in-place drills, workplace violence and first aid training.
  • Manage safety consultants contract to maximize service resources.
  • Update Safety Data Sheets files.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Associate degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Knowledge / training:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements a plus.
  • Knowledge of relevant requirements and industry standards is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring and reporting of activities.

Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with experience in safety principles.
