Dental Veterinary Technician

Job Description:

VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician to work in our Dentistry and Oral surgery department at our 24-hour emergency/multi-specialty practice in Los Angeles, CA.

About Us:

VCA WLA Animal Hospital is located in Los Angeles, CA, three miles from the coast. We offer 13 specialties including: Emergency & Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Oncology, Zoo Med , and Dentistry. We offer multiple advanced diagnostic and treatment modalities such as MRI, CT and Radiation Therapy.

Summary of Job Description and Function:

  • Participate in training program with Anesthesia Department
  • Assist with dental exams, physical exams, sample collection, venipuncture
  • Perform dental radiographs, charting, ultrasonic scaling, nerve blocks
  • Communicate with clients for: creating estimates, scheduling, and patient follow up
  • Assist in patient procedures: preparation of patients, dental prophylaxis, instruments, equipment
  • Assist in patient discharges, filling prescriptions
  • Plan, organize, and manage the daily flow of services
  • Maintenance of equipment used in the Dental service
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
  • General nursing care including baseline knowledge of restraint and anesthesia
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • RVT preferred
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
