VOLUNTEERS OF AMERICA is hiring at Sleepy Eye Care Center, which is an Assisted Living, Independent Living, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care Residence. This position works in our Skilled Nursing Home, which is rated 5 stars out of 5 stars for the quality of care we provide our residents.

Wages:

RN - $26.50 - $36.67 dependingupon years of experience and the opted PIL benefits

LPN - $20.65 - $30.24 dependingupon years of experience and the opted PIL benefits

$2 differential when working evening or overnight shift

$5,000 retention bonus for full time working 30 hours or more a week

full time shifts available:

7 am - 3 pm

3 pm - 11:30 pm

part time shifts available:

3 pm - 11:30 pm

casual shifts available:

3 pm - 11:30 pm

11 pm - 7:30 am

    The RN and LPN role is to utilize the nursing process in planning and providing direct care to residents as assigned.
    Our person centered care approach provides a low nurse to patient ratio, which allows you to make a real difference in the lives of those in your community. You will truly provide exceptional cares and clinical outcomes to your residents.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • RN - Provides leadership and direction in the assigned unit
    • Open communication with all staff, customers, guests, residents and families.
    • Follows all shift routines, policy and procedures regarding monitoring of vital signs, weights, administration of medications and treatments.
    • Immediately reports any suspected abuse or neglect per facility policy.
    • Accurately utilizes electronic systems of documentation as required per facility policy.


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. Current licensure in the state of employment as a Registered Nurse or LPN.
    2. Current CPR Certification.
    3. Maintenance of required CEU's.
    4. Experience in long-term care preferred.
    5. Good problem solver with abilities to make independent judgments utilizing initiative, discretion and the nursing process as needed.
    6. Demonstrates leadership ability.
    7. Effective communicator with staff, families and outside agencies.
    8. Ability to prioritize duties.
    9. Customer service oriented with knowledge of successful customer service techniques.
    10. Clinical competence to utilize the nursing process to perform physical and cognitive assessments of residents.
    11. Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
    12. Must be a team player.
    13. Understanding of current Antibiotic Stewardship, Infection Prevention and Infection Control and OSHA guidelines.

  • Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individual with disabilities to meet these demands:

    1. Physical Requirements - Requires a full range of motion including handling and lifting patients. Requires frequent standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling and reaching at arms length and overhead in clinic, rehab department and in community for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to transfer participants needing maximum assist of one. Requires the ability to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds and push or pull objects exceeding one hundred fifty (150) pounds, using appropriate body mechanics. Requires manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

    2. Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements - Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to document care provided in participants' service records. Must be able to communicate verbally with participants their treatment plan, team members and participants caregivers.

    3. Pressure Factor - Requires working under stressful conditions. Working conditions may be noisy and crowded and fluctuating indoor temperatures. Moderate pressure to meet scheduled appointments while dealing with frail and confused participants. Subject to participants that may have the potential for verbal or physical aggression.
