Description:
  • Reporting to the Director of Respiratory Care Services the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care to a specified group of patients.
  • Level II NICU (Germantown)

Responsibilities:
  • Performs respiratory care procedures in response to patient needs and physician direction/orders
  • Assesses the respiratory status of assigned patients through physical exam, chart review, and response to ordered therapy; and makes recommendations, when appropriate, to affect and achieve an optimal level of response to the intervention ordered.
  • Performs airway management and cardiopulmonary resuscitation as required.
  • Collaborates with physicians, medical professionals and other staff to ensure the quality of care given. Provides care for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric patient (as defined in the unit scope of care).
  • Utilizes knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patient's age to ensure that care provided meets the unique, physical and psychosocial needs of the patient.
  • Involves appropriate parties (i.e.; patient's family or guardian, outside agencies) in the assessment, treatment and continuing care of the patient as needed.

What you will need:

Required:
  • Registry with the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Current licensure from the state of Maryland as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Current BLS & ACLS (issued through the American Heart Association)

Preferred:
  • At least one year of clinical experience highly preferred
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) if working in NICU/Special Care Nursery
