Flow Cytometry Technician I

Responsibilities:

• Operating and maintaining flow cytometers, including daily QC, daily/monthly cleaning, and record keeping
• Data management
• Consulting with facility researchers regarding instrument troubleshooting, panel design and data analysis
• Continuing education in new cytometry methods and facility specific protocols
• Routine laboratory tasks such as:
  • General cleaning and organizing of work areas and computer stations
  • Monitoring and ordering supplies
  • Waste disposal/recycling
  • Updating and editing of lab documents
  • Responding to emails sent to the facility account

Qualifications
Skills Required:

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Shows interest in acquiring new skills
• Problem solving
• Interacts respectfully with other facility staff, facility users, and all MGB staff to respond in an appropriate and timely manner
• Remains thoughtful and calm in unexpected or stressful situations

Experience & Education Required:

• 0-3yr cytometry experience
• Requires a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience with a scientific background; Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences preferred
• Experience with both PC and MAC computer systems
• Familiarity with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Customer service experience preferred
