Job Summary
The Research Data Analyst works on research data reporting assignments that are of moderate diversity in scope. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

The Research Data Analyst will be a member of the research and evaluation team of the Mental Health Services Oversight and Accountability Commission (MHSOAC), Sacramento, CA. The role of MHSOAC is to oversee the implementation of the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA). The MHSOAC is also responsible for developing strategies to overcome stigma. At any time, the MHSOAC may advise the Governor or the Legislature on mental health policy. 

The Research Data Analyst will apply their experience in data management and analysis of the Triage summative evaluation.  The individual will report to the Research Data Analyst IV, will be responsible for data preparation of county data and conduct descriptive and inferential data analyses. The individual will conduct ad hoc analyses using SAS as needed.

Required Qualifications
*    Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
*    Expertise in SAS, SQL Server, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel and reference management software (e.g. EndNote)
*    Skills associated with statistical analysis and database management
*    Experience synthesizing data into presentation format
*    Ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing
*    Ability to think creatively to recommend action steps or strategize solutions relative to research
*    Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines, and stay focused under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
*    Base SAS certification 
*    Minimum 3 years of experience in evaluation, data analysis and reporting
*    Experience writing scientific manuscripts synthesizing research findings
*    Experience analyzing state and/or national databases, such as employment, education, health, or criminal justice databases
