GENERAL SUMMARY:
Working independently, under the supervision of Drs. Robert Edwards and Samantha Meints of the Pain Phenotyping to Enhance Relief by Studying Optimized Nonpharmacologic Analgesia (PPERSONA) Lab, the RA will develop, modify, and execute protocols involving recruitment, assessment, and follow-up of patients in a clinical research study at a professional level. In collaboration with other members of the research team, will give input to the development and implementation of study procedures. The RA will calculate, transcribe, and analyze data using statistical techniques. The RA may be responsible for orienting, training, and managing new staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Independently performs routine and non-routine procedures for recruiting, screening, and enrolling subjects.
2. Learns and performs quantitative sensory testing of subjects.
3. Manages and analyzes data using Redcaps data collection system.
4. Performs literature searches and helps to prepare presentations and written articles for publication.
5. Coordinates schedule of tests and procedures.
6. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS in biological or psychosocial sciences.
Must have at least one year fulltime experience in a research setting.
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• High degree of computer literacy (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Office, Dropbox, SPSS, RedCAP, Qualtrics)
• Sound analytical and organizational skills
• Requires good oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities
• Ability to identify potential problems and trouble-shoot solutions
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data statistically and to logically present it
• Effective managerial and supervisory skills
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Supervise undergraduate and graduate volunteers
• May serve as a supervisor to new RAs
