Job Description Summary:
The Developer Productivity Engineering team is looking for a Release Engineer who is willing to join a fast-paced and dynamic release engineering team that is constantly solving new and challenging problems in order to deliver our products seamlessly to our customers. We are looking for a creative, energetic Release Engineer who is passionate about driving innovation in release engineering and ability to oversee Incident Management process. The position involves facilitating, managing, and supporting releases for PayPal, as well as making sure that changes are deployed efficiently, with minimal friction to the developer and having no impact on the site.

Job Description:

A successful candidate must be self-motivated, with strong technical & troubleshooting knowledge of Linux operating system along with Apache, Network, Virtualization, Docker containers. A proven ability to trouble shoot platform as well applications with given inputs and ability to quickly resolve issues and work on a long-term fix. Ability to communicate with multiple teams to triage and trouble shoot issues and to communicate status and progress.

Responsibilities:

As part of release team ensure releases done as per plan, progress is communicated to all stakeholders. Work to resolve technical issues and escalations at infrastructure and application level. Leading, driving, facilitating and managing Incident bridge. Provide scheduled on call services for emergency changes. Participate the site incidents trouble shooting triage efforts Work directly with developers to fix the technical issues they are facing, engage relevant teams and take issues to a logical conclusion. Improve existing process and automate using new tools and scripts Work on different projects, provide status updates and meet the stakeholder expectations. Define and improve existing releases, deployment processes and drive discussions within the team. Manage releases and deployments in the distributed Environment across multiple stacks and ensure compliance with PayPal policies. Work collaboratively and efficiently with all internal and external partners and stakeholders across multiple time zones to ensure timely delivery.

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years of total experience with a bachelor's degree is required.
  • Solid knowledge of Linux operating system, Ubuntu, RHEL, OEL7 is required.
  • Application support and debugging experience in a dynamic fast-paced production environment.
  • Knowledge/Experience of Incident Management.
  • Network basics and Trouble shooting skills
  • Load balancers / Traffic manager knowledge
  • Virtualization, Containerization Knowledge
  • Good understanding of Production deployment, Distributed Env required.
  • Sound knowledge in one or more programming languages like shell, python.
  • Knowledge of GIT, Jira, Jenkins preferred.
  • 4+ years in production support role in a fast-paced industry/organization.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across global teams
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities to deliver projects on schedule
  • Strong problem solving and operational process skills and attention to detail.
