Occ Summary

Independently plan and provide professional nursing care for patientsin accordance with physician orders and establ ishedpolicies andprocedures. Provide nursing services to patients and fa milies inaccordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Car olinaBoard of Nursing.


Work Performed

Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing careutilizing the nursing pr ocessfor patients in accordance with physicianorders and established policies and procedures. Use professional nursingjudgment to individualize theplan of care based on assessment of thepatient's baseline needs and r esponse to care.Delegate tasks and supervise the activities of other lic ensed andunlicensed care providers.Assist other nursing personnel in the delivery of nursing care and actas team leader or charge nurse for a gr oupof patients or an entire unitas assigned.Monitor and initiate correct iveaction to maintain the environment ofcare including equipment and mat erial resources.Participate in own professional development by maintaini ngrequiredcompetencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropria teassistance or educational offerings.Act as preceptor and support the d evelopment of other staff and formallearners.Participate in the identifi cation of clinical or operational performanceimprovement opportunities a nd in performance improvement activities.Perform other related duties in cidental to the work described herein.

Minimum Qualifications


Education

Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN program. Exception: Registered nurses hired between July 1, 2014 and April 11, 2021 without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) are expected to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date but must complete the program within five years of their start date. Registered nurses hired before July 1, 2014 are not required to enroll in a BSN program to remain in this job classification.
