GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

A staff position designed to establish and administer programs and strategies for recruiting students. Recruiters will report to the Director of Enrollment Services and collaborate with advisors, recruiters, administrative staff, and faculty to oversee the college's effectiveness in meeting the needs of the students. This position is housed at the Henry County Center.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing, recruitment, and retention strategies.

Recruits prospective students, including traditional, adult, veterans, and dual enrollment participants within a designated travel area served by Dyersburg State.

Visits middle schools, high schools, businesses, and community partners to promote the college and maintains a strong rapport with stakeholders.

Enters prospective student information into Banner.

Utilizes the student information database to communicate and recruit students.

Demonstrates knowledge of the admissions and enrollment process for all certificate and degree programs.

Communicate with prospective students and their families who contact DSCC via email or the DSCC website.

Counsel's prospective students via in-person, email, telephone or Zoom appointments.

Assists with college visits and tours for prospective students.

Assists with preparation for and attends all K-12 partnership events.

Assists with programs for middle school students and serves as an additional point of contact for middle school counselors.

Assists with New Student Orientation events.

Assists with the Dual Credit program.

Assists with recruitment events, registration events, and other Enrollment Services programs and projects.

Achieves and maintains Master Advisor Status and advises as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary: Desk work; travel will be required to all DSCC locations and local high schools for college or program activities. Flexibility to attend college programs in the evening or on the weekends is required. Besides frequent person-to-person interactions with students, faculty, and staff, this position requires significant communication by telephone and other electronic means (e.g. email, etc.) Insignificant effort other than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.

Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.

Willingness to learn new software applications.

Ability to comprehend, interpret and apply DSCC policies and procedures.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Ability to pay attention to detail and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.

Must be able to maintain an effective relationship with all constituencies.

Must be flexible to work some evenings and weekends; must have a valid driver's license and personal transportation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum of one year of experience in a college or university setting, preferably a public community college.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in college admissions counseling or advising at a college or university setting, preferably a public community college.

Experience working with college student groups including traditional, adult, veterans and dual enrollment participants.

Salary Range: Starting pay is $33,500 annually ($17.18 per hour). With additional experience, pay increases to a maximum of $41,900.
