Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE:

Ensure bulk waste shipments are adequately sampled, inspected, monitored, labeled, and routed to permitted storage areas in compliance with facilities permit and waste analysis plan.

PRIMARY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinate with receiving personnel the movement of loads (drums) into the sampling area.
  2. Apply barcodes and other facility labeling to equipment
  3. Monitor tankers and boxes for leaks in accordance to subpart DD and NESHAP requirements.
  4. Determine and implement PPE requirements per waste profiles
  5. Identify (and repair as necessary) holes in tarps. Remediate small leaks.
  6. Assist drivers as necessary with the opening hatches, domes for sampling.
  7. Sample waste liquids and solids per standard facility procedures. Describe physical character of waste (i.e. size, free liquid content, etc.)
  8. Direct driver to permitted waste storage areas and spot equipment.
  9. Other work-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent required.
  • Associates degree in Chemistry preferred.
  • Related work experience of 1 to 2 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Strong team player
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong customer orientation

Required Certification / Licenses / Training

  • 24-Hour HAZWOPER Training
