The Opportunity: Radiologic Technologist - Urgent Care (Newton)

Why This Role Is Important

We are seeking a Radiologic Technologist to work 3, 12.5-hour shifts per week with 2 on-call shifts assigned per 4-week scheduling period (overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed).

Reporting to the Practice Supervisor, Radiologic Technologists are responsible for performing diversified duties in the Diagnostic Imaging section of the Radiology Department while operating within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures. The technologist will be essential to driving iCare's mission towards always aspiring to be people's first choice for health and care, rooted in well-being and kindness, by bringing world-class care closer to home and being the bridge to world-renowned hospitals and research when needed.

The Radiologic Technologist will be primarily accountable for:
  • Utilizing practical knowledge of anatomy, protocols and scanner equipment to acquire top quality diagnostic information via ultrasound in an Ambulatory, Outpatient setting and Ambulatory Surgery Center
  • Maintaining department patient flow to provide superior patient experience and timely care, works efficiently and with confidence
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of department workflows including but not limited to:
    • Service procedures
    • Patient schedule management
    • Radiation Safety
    • Epic Radiant
    • Supplies and Equipment
    • Treating all patients with kindness, empathy and respect; how they would treat a family member receiving care
  • Front Office Duties (as needed):
    • Performs all the assigned duties of the front office, applying daily check lists for opening and closing of center.
    • Greets and assists patients and other guests in a professional, friendly, hospitable manner.
    • Registers arriving patients in the electronic medical record (EMR) following existing protocols.
    • Processes payments for services.
  • Back Office Clinical Duties (as needed):
    • Rooms and triages patients.
    • Documents review of symptoms, patient history, chief complaint, vital signs, and any other necessary clinical documentation in the EMR.
    • Obtains and processes patient specimens, according to protocol, for point of care tests (examples: rapid strep, flu, mono, pregnancy, urinalysis, glucose), sends out labs (examples: urine culture, strep culture), and other tests required for employee health visits such as breath alcohol test, urine drug screening. Collection of specimens is typically by urine sample or finger stick blood sample.
    • Assists with minor surgical procedures under the direction of licensed provider.

We do our best to keep all employees at their assigned centers; however, for on-call shifts, employees must be able to commute to any of our locations, including Boston Common, Brookline, Cambridge, Lynn, Natick, Newton, Westwood, and Woburn. You may also be asked to report to any of these centers during orientation (for training/precepting purposes) or during times of staffing shortages or other extenuating circumstances (for cross-coverage purposes).

Qualifications
Required
  • Must maintain required Licenses and Registrations for Massachusetts
  • ARRT Registered
  • CPR/BLS
  • Ideal candidate would possess at least one year of experience inclusive of surgical rotations and portable Xray
