Summary In this critical role, you will ensure the quality and integrity of our large and small bearings using magnetic particle inspection (MPI) and other non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques. You will work closely with other inspectors, machinists, and assemblers to identify and address potential defects, ensuring our bearings meet the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Conduct magnetic particle inspections on large and small, machined components and assemblies to detect surface and subsurface discontinuities.
  • Prepare surfaces for MPI according to established procedures.
  • Interpret MPI results and document findings accurately.
  • Measure surface finish, roundness, crown, and dimensions using precision tools and equipment (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc.)
  • Compare measurements to specifications and identify any discrepancies.
  • Maintain inspection records and generate reports.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inspection processes.
  • Perform other quality control duties as assigned.
Education/Experience/Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment performing magnetic particle inspections.
  • Prior experience in a large and small-bearing manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Familiarity with other NDT techniques (e.g., dye penetrant inspection) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and blueprints.
  • Excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios, percents).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must possess good close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift for extended periodsOperates welding equipment to cut or weld parts (Mig, Tig, gas, stick, brazing).
Education and/or Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required)
  • Associate degree (A. A.) in Tool and Die (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
