Position Summary:

Sonic Industries, Inc. is a leading aerospace fastener company. RBC Bearings is a well-known international manufacturer and marketer of highly engineered precision plain, roller and ball bearings. We have been providing bearing solutions to our customers since 1919. Over the past ten years, under the leadership of our current management team, RBC Bearings has significantly broadened our end markets, products, customer base and geographic reach. We currently have 42 facilities, of which 33 are manufacturing facilities in five countries. Our selling efforts are supported by a global network of sales engineers, distributors and authorized agents and has an immediate opening for a Lab Tech.

Key Position Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of testing, including tensile, fatigue, shear, hardness, and metallographic analysis of materials and processes commonly performed in Aerospace Manufacturing.
• Perform necessary testing as requested by Design or Quality Engineering for the evaluation and resolution of material failures related to processing.
• Utilize laboratory test equipment and apparatus, arrange and suggest modifications to equipment for optimal functioning.
• Record test findings; prepare and analyze results for review by customers and engineering personnel.
• Detect and evaluate opportunities for improvement and propose solutions for potential or existing problems within scope of job function.
• May perform a variety of inspection functions to support final and receiving inspection.
• Responsible for ensuring proper documentation is entered on manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
• Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
• Uses independent judgment in making decisions and knows when to stop and seek clarification.
• Work under minimal oversight.

Skills and Experience:

• Requires proficient written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of office procedures, and experience in the operation of office equipment.
• Requires familiarity with personal computers and related software.
• Reads and understands manufacturing planning, sketches, blueprints, and customer specifications as necessary to perform the job function.

ITAR Requirement:

• Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) or a Foreign Person for whom a license is obtained.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

- Position works around machinery and equipment. The employee is expected to access, enter, and retrieve data by using a computer terminal. This position requires employee to stand for 8 hours. The position requires employee to drive a delivery vehicle. The position requires lifting parts up to 40 lbs unassisted. The employee must often bend and reach to load, unload, or stack materials on equipment, in delivery truck or van. The employee also moves throughout the building to collect, deliver and handle production parts.
