Position Overview

The Quality Control Tech is a highly skilled position that involves the performance and record keeping for quality control tests including, but not limited to, gradations, proctors, liquid limits, plastic limits, specific gravities, and moistures. The Scale House Rover is a position requiring the employee to perform a wide variety of office support functions including the following: weighing and ticketing trucks, preparing daily load summaries, accepting payments, filing, answering phones, and customer relations. This position will be primarily in our Forsyth Quarry in Suwanee, GA but travel to our Mulberry Quarry in Dallas, GA will be required as needed.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

  • Assist the plant operation with a screen cloth check-up and any area of the operation that will allow contamination of material such as chutes, flipper gates, head-boxes etc.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to produce highly professional proposals and presentations.
  • Knowledge of construction methods and procedures is desired
  • Well organized, with a strong work ethic and strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a team member.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is essential
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and is highly organized
  • Keep time and equipment records.
  • Weigh trucks accurately and efficiently
  • Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications
  • Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the site.
  • Excellent customer relation skills.
  • Strict adherence to company policy regarding inventory and payment collection
  • Assist in other areas as needed and other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a high level of safety compliance in accordance with company and federal guidelines.
  • Properly follow all company policies and MSHA and OSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment
  • Attendance required according to company attendance policy
  • Attitude/cooperation: always maintaining courteous and professional manner with co-workers, customers and public.


Qualifications

Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
  • Some experience within a quarry environment preferred.
  • Quality Control Tech and Scale House experience preferred


Work Requirements
  • Possess a strong drive to fulfill commitments
  • Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) (will be provided) and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work required. Out of town/county/or state work may be required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must have a current Drivers license and a good driving record
  • Must pass a pre employment background, physical and drug test


Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Ability to observe, receive, and obtain information from all relevant sources
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to comprehend and communicate to others the requirements of technical specifications, regulations, reports, and manuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to define problems, establish fact and draw valid conclusions.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Walking, climbing, balancing, stooping kneeling, crouching and traveling over irregular terrain.
  • Some tasks involve: prolonged periods of standing and /or exposure to noise or weather, good motor coordination, finger dexterity, and color discrimination.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects and equipment.
  • Capable of working at heights.

Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.
  • Frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
