Looking for a bright, hard-working, and experienced QC Chemist to join our dynamic research and development team. Reporting to Senior R&D Scientist or Director, this role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining new and existing products in various laboratory/production environments. The person in this position will be responsible for performing the development and maintenance of analytical/ASTM test methods used in various projects, including chemical analysis, viscosity methods, adhesion tests, chemistry, or other scientific disciplines. Design and execute experiments using standard techniques and perform routine analyses with minimal supervision from senior management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Follow procedures and guidelines associated with production processes, and laboratory QC procedures. Maintain appropriate records of all work performed
* Creates, edits, and reviews standard operating procedures
* Initiates, investigates, and reviews quality system documentation, including deviations, and change controls
* Performs testing and reviews testing of raw materials
* Performs ASTM and AASHTO standard methods
* Performs lot release testing for materials, components, and finished products
* Reviews documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with auditing
* Assists with supplier and component approval and qualification
* Summarize and communicate data results to the broader technology and production teams, and recommend new systems and processes to improve operations
* Provide input into quality control testing protocols as necessary
* Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

* Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a QC lab in a R&D/production/manufacturing environment
* B.S./M.S. Degree in Analytical Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or equivalent required
* Laboratory or QC work experience in coating, adhesive, sealant, and asphalt emulsion products is preferred
* Prepare compounds, reagents, and solutions used in laboratory procedures, and analyze various substances to find their composition
* Strong knowledge and/or experience in analytical instruments. Experience in using viscometers, FTIR, DSC/TGA, DSR, Instron, is a plus
* Perform complex research projects such as developing new products and testing new methods
