The University of LaVerne (La Verne) is excited to welcome inquiries, nominations, and applications for the role of Provost. The Provost will join La Verne at a transformative time, working closely with the new President, Dr. Pardis Mahdavi, to strategically align the academic enterprise with the university's mission of offering a distinctive and relevant educational experience to a diverse population of traditional age, adult, and graduate learners. This is a unique opportunity to partner with an innovative new leader to strengthen further the academic and student experience at an institution with a rich history of values-based education across liberal arts and professional programs. The incoming Provost will become a part of a dynamic community of faculty, staff, students, and alumni to build upon the initiatives in the 2025 Strategic Vision and continue the university's legacy of providing affordable, accessible, and high-quality education to students from across Southern California and around the world.
Founded in 1891, the University of LaVerne is a private, not-for-profit university in LaVerne, California, about 35 miles east of Los Angeles. The university comprises five colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business, the LaFetra College of Education, the College of Law and Public Service, and the Cástulo de la Rocha College of Health and Community Well-Being. The university also encompasses seven regional campuses throughout Southern California and provides robust online offerings. Scholastic opportunities abound, with 50 undergraduate programs, 20 master's degrees, five doctorates, and six credential programs.
The University of La Verne is ranked sixth nationally for social mobility of students by U.S. News & World Report and among the top 10 best private national universities in California. LaVerne serves approximately 6,000 traditional age and adult learners from myriad backgrounds, helping make the federally-designated Hispanic-Serving Institution one of the most diverse universities in the nation. Nearly half of the traditional undergraduates are first-generation students, and more than 70 percent of LaVerne students receive some form of financial aid.
The University of LaVerne seeks a Provost dedicated to the belief that a quality, values-based education enriches the human condition by engendering community engagement, scholarly accomplishment, and professionalism. The next Provost will celebrate diversity and be personally engaged and committed to helping students achieve their academic and professional goals.
