Job Summary

The purpose of the Program Manager - Innovation (External Funding) role is to strategically secure and manage external funding for renewable energy projects and networks, ensuring alignment with Avangrid's objectives and fostering beneficial partnerships with funding sources. This role assists the Director of Corporate Innovation with the development of key innovation initiatives for the Networks, Renewables and Corporate businesses. This role supports the development of Innovation activities at Avangrid. Interacts with senior management staff of Avangrid, Iberdrola SA and all affiliates.

This role requires an experienced perspective based on business and organizational knowledge, active collaboration, flexibility, agility, technical excellence, and the ability to successfully partner with and advise senior business leaders and functional business areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to secure external funding for Avangrid's Renewables and Networks projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with potential funding sources, including government agencies (i.e. DOE, USDA) and funding institutions.
  • Stay abreast of relevant grants, subsidies, and incentive programs to optimize funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify funding needs and align proposals with company objectives.
  • Prepare comprehensive funding proposals, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Manage the end-to-end proposal submission process, including documentation, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of funded projects, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Conduct financial analysis to assess the feasibility and attractiveness of various funding options.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, policies, and funding landscapes to guide decision-making.
  • Supporting negotiations with external partners to secure favorable funding terms and conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of related experience in securing external funding for renewable energy projects with focus on grants, subsidies, and incentives.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting comprehensive funding proposals, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and contribute as a member of a team to develop and implement projects and programs across various business areas at Avangrid.
  • Must be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities and deliverables to successful completion.
  • Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to work innovatively and creatively.
  • Advanced problem solving, analytical, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex information, distill relevant items and create appropriate action plans.
  • Provide strategic input to management team and business areas based on sound decision making.
  • Strong ability in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Create and maintain internal and external relationships

Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Business Administration, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related discipline
