SUMMARY

Ensure the successful delivery of assigned MAHLE Powertrain (MPT) engineering projects by achieving project budget, timing and technical scope targets, and providing the highest quality deliverables to the customer

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide the customer with a professional and technically solid interface
  • Directs, coordinates and inspires activities of MPT Engineering project teams
  • Coordinates all project supplier activities required to achieve project targets and deliverables including timing, budgetary, technical and customer related
  • Develops and maintains a Customer Focused culture within responsible employee team
  • Identify and win further business opportunities for Engineering department
  • Assume accountability for all activities related to the purpose of this position
  • Initiate, organize, plan, direct and monitor all organizational functions needed to accomplish the Purpose described above
  • Overall responsibility for all aspects of project management including:
    • Motivating project team to deliver programs, within the customer-defined project scope
    • Work with technical leads (Mechanical / Electrical / Software / Controls Engineering) to ensure the delivery of project timing, budget and quality
    • Maintain project reporting including updated timing plans, financial reporting and projections, issues decks (risk register) and necessary technical reports
    • Coordinate activities between functional areas to achieve project deliverables and milestones
    • Manage control gates and internal review processes to maintain project control
    • Develop Acceptance Test Plans with technical team to ensure that the design intent and customer requirements are met
    • Monitor, and revise as necessary, resource from function areas to achieve project deliverables and milestones
    • Ensure customer requirements are met, if necessary where workscope change is not within agreed scope and is not containable within budget, negotiate Project Change Notices to secure additional funding from customer
    • Serve as the primary customer interface for project related communication, including cost, timing, scope, quality and technical
    • Identify future business leads
    • Generate comprehensive project quotes and workplans
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree is required. Bachelor's in Engineering is preferred (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Electrical, Software Engineering). Master's Degree in engineering or related field is desired.
  • Experience managing multiple programs in various project cycle stages simultaneously
  • A detailed understanding of typical Automotive program Work Breakdown Structures, Task dependencies, Timing and Budgets
  • General understanding of corporate accounting structures and procedures, including budget cycle planning, accounts payable / receivable
  • Ability to work as leader of a team, but also must be able to work with minimum supervision and be capable of making decisions using available information and guidelines while at the same time knowing when to ask for help
  • Must be able to work effectively with a variety of people on a daily basis. This will include management, test and powertrain engineers, as well as customers and supplier representatives
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently run internal and external meetings to convey information to the project team, and drive decisions
  • Program management experience in cost, schedule and risk management, with systems integration experience preferred
  • Ability to generate project budget and timing plans to deliver project scope as defined
  • Must be organized and up-to-date on the detail of the programs as assigned
  • Excellent PC skills including: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project
  • Experience with SAP preferred
  • Ability to 'think like the customer', to see potential weaknesses in capability and adjust
