General Description:

A faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction (70%) Secondary responsibilities include service (30%) such as participating in various college and community activities, institutional and programmatic committees, and providing student advisement. Other service opportunities as may occur.

This position is a Safety Sensitive position and subject to mandatory:
- Criminal history background check; and
- Pre-employment and random drug screening.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Nursing with current enrollment in a Master's in Nursing program. Must complete a minimum of 6 credit hours each fall and spring until degree completed.

Current license to practice and a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent practice as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting preceding the first date of first employment as a teacher.

Hold and maintain an active, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oklahoma.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Teaching Competence - Must be able to create and present lesson plans, content, presentations, ancillary materials, and assignments to effectively transform information to knowledge for students; have the ability to assess student learning and progress
Communication skills - Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with clear, grammatically correct English and prepare complex reports on deadline; requires interaction with supervisors, colleagues, students, alumni, advisory committee members, and the public, using tact, discretion, and independent judgment

Service-Must be able to participate in service opportunities for the division, college, and community.
Computer skills - Must be demonstrably proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel), as well as e-mail, internet and learning management systems
Ability to manage multiple priorities imposed by frequent deadlines, peak workloads, and public/student contact
Passion for assisting customers and representing the OCCC brand with positivity and professionalism
Demonstrated history of ethical and professional behavior
Requires possible lifting of up to 25 lbs
Background checks will be conducted when required by law or contract and when, in the discretion of the college, it is reasonable and prudent to do so

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, patients, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom and lab area to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to push, pull, grasp, and/or lift materials or equipment.

This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment to instruct or assist students and patients.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
This position's essential functions are performed in an indoor, classroom, office, and lab area.

The person in this position will be exposed to infectious diseases.

The person in this position will be required to occasionally function around prisoners, mental patients, or agitated, hostile patients.

Preferred Qualifications:

Critical care nursing experience.

Work Hours:

This is a full-time position. Teaching schedules and service experiences may include online, days, nights and/or weekends.

Position includes teaching and service components (teaching 70%/service 30%)

Provide quality learning opportunities to meet students' educational goals with emphasis on teaching and learning for the adult learner (15CHE per fall and spring semester)Develop in each student the skills of critical thinking and to help students learn the subject matter presented to them for that student to become a positive member of the communityTeach and evaluate students in classroom (online and onsite), clinical setting and laboratory collaboratively with the team leader, team members and other facultyCollaborate with team to plan, implement, and evaluate teaching effectivenessPrepare learning activities (online and onsite), classroom presentations, and develop test items covering objectives for assigned course contentGrading tests, participating in test analysis, and providing student feedbackb. Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills, and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
