Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Production Scheduler is to schedule production for the melt shop and roll mill efficiently and communicate these activities effectively with the team. The position analyzes production specifications and capacity data to coordinate meeting customer orders and appropriate inventory levels. In addition, the position tracks and improves material programs including supply chain management and finished/semi-finished inventory planning by implementing forecasting and analytical tools.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Bachelors Degree in business, technical or related field.
  • 2+ years professional work experience in related field.

  • Teamwork: Proven team player that works effectively in a group.
  • Initiative: Self-motivated, goal oriented, cost driven and organized with strong desire for upward mobility. Dedication to continuous improvement of self, team, and process within department.
  • Time Management: Consistent energy/work ethic;determination to be as helpful and resourceful as possible.
  • Production & Processing: Proven commitment to cost reduction, product quality, yield, and customer service excellence.


    • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of steelmaking processes (melting, casting, rolling, shipping and scheduling)
  • Understanding and experience with EPR driven MRP programs (Oracle preferred)
  • APICS Certifications - CPIM, CSCP, etc.
