Full Time

7am - 4pm on call off hours

Prairie Farms is a co-op owned by hundreds of farmers. At the Granite City facility, we use the farmer's milk, to create the finest, quality dairy products in the world. The control systems on the processes and machines that produce these products incorporate control systems, that include but are not limited to PLCS, VFDS, Servo Drives, Feedback Devices, HMIs, and many others. As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for the entire process, including inception, management, development and enhancement. Troubleshooting, and assisting production to obtain maximum efficiencies and minimum downtime through Automation strategies.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Design, install, and maintain equipment used in modern industrial processes.
  • Troubleshoot a wide range of systems, from the simplest fuses and motors to sophisticated electronic computer interface boards, motor drives, programmable logic controllers, solid-state devices and field devices
  • Troubleshoot and write programs in complex ladder logic.
  • Work with RsLogix 500 and 5000, RsStudio, Factory Talk ME and SE.
  • Set up hardware
  • Install software
  • Maintain and repair technological equipment
  • Manage software in computers and networks
  • Ensure privacy and data protection
  • Transact SQL Simple Queries
  • Perform troubleshoot activities
  • Understand fiber application, cat5e, cat 6, Cat 7 and POE
  • Manage network components (servers, switches, routers)
  • Create records of repairs and fixes
  • Provide technical support
  • Train and collaborate with other team members
  • Work hand in hand with plant and corporate IT staff on networking and automation initiatives.
  • Capable of being a support contact in all hours of the day, remotely or on location.
  • Capable of working with other contractors or engineers to solve issues

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Automation or Related Engineering Field
  • PLC, Automation and/or related experience of 2-3 years


Hourly wage commensurate on experience.
