SUMMARY:

Responsible for projecting performance related to the CMS Star Ratings program using various statistical methodologies that include analyzing historical performance, incorporating industry knowledge and trends, and scenario modeling. This also includes collection and maintenance of monthly performance data, monthly dashboard reporting, and creation of PowerPoint presentations to share performance with clients. Additional ad-hoc analysis and modeling related to MA business is also required. Position requires a background and familiarity with statistical methods, extensive experience working with Excel and PowerPoint, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the desire to bring new and innovative ideas to improve existing processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES / TASKS:

  • Project Star Rating performance by analyzing historical data and trends, and incorporating CMS program changes, industry knowledge and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Using statistical models, forecast industry performance for the estimation of future cut-points for the Star Rating calculations.
  • Provide analytical support for Star Rating performance at both the client and industry levels.
  • Build on existing internal and client reporting packages with a focus on automating processes and building interactive dashboards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and other stakeholders to understand and improve the accuracy of performance projections.
  • Lead small projects and analysis for the department.
  • Ensure reporting deliverables include complete, accurate, and timely data
  • Implement data quality controls, conduct reasonableness checks, and validate data within reporting processes.
  • Identify, collect, analyze, and maintain data to assess existing and potential trends and issues, and support business decisions.
  • Possess and maintain a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of our industry, products and services, and the Star Ratings program which continues to evolve and change.
  • Effectively communicate results of analysis to management, executive leadership and greater organization in professional reports and presentations.
  • Perform root cause analysis to resolve issues, recommend, and implement solutions to identified problems.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to unit and corporate staff as required.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Care, Information Systems, Statistics or a related field. Continuous learning, as defined by the Company's learning philosophy, is required. Certification or progress toward certification is highly preferred and encouraged.

EXPERIENCE:

Seven (7) years or more of demonstrated experience in business analysis, data manipulation, data analysis, and effective data presentation. Experience using data visualization tools, such as Tableau, a plus. Medicare Advantage Star Ratings experience is strongly preferred.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Knowledge of metrics, data, and business intelligence strategies with the ability to effectively analyze and synthesize large amounts of complex data
  • Proven ability to perform complex business analysis and decision-making
  • Excellent organization and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage significant workload, and work efficiently under pressure meeting established deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide variety of individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong time management skills and a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent written and oral communication for representation of clear and concise results.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical models
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills - pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, etc.
  • Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.
  • Experience executing in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Administer and adhere to corporate and departmental policies, practices and procedures.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in an office setting with no unusual hazards.
