About This Position
The Department of Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. The Postdoctoral Associate will be joining a funded laboratory in GI cancer biology and immunology, and will be responsible for performing experiments, assisting with writing and preparing grants, and mentoring/guiding graduate students/technicians in the laboratory. The applicant should be well versed in the following areas: immunology, cellular & molecular biology, oncology, and animal handling or other related experience. Immunology experience/training is highly desired. Ability to analyze large data sets and perform computational analysis an added bonus. The candidate must be able to design and execute experiments independently . Must possess the ability to troubleshoot research projects both at the scientific and technical levels, interpret and analyze experimental data, and maintain accurate records. Should have the ability to develop, adopt, and implement new lab procedures. Should assist in the preparation of data and figures for manuscripts and for scientific presentations using Power Point, Prism, R, and other software as needed. Should have the ability to establish and maintain animal models related to assigned projects in full compliance with University of Miami regulations. Moreover, the candidate will present data in laboratory meetings and other venues, prepare manuscripts for publication in collaboration with other laboratory staff, ensure and document laboratory adherence to safety standards. A critical asset is the ability to work collaboratively with other members of the lab.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a science-related field of study or M.D. Advanced knowledge in immunology and cancer biology experience is highly desired. Should also be familiar in the following areas: cellular and molecular biology, oncology, animal handling, computational biology. Other desired skills/qualifications:
