The Zoetis Global Therapeutics Research group is seeking an innovative and highly motivated Post -Doctoral immunologist (3-D cell culture & cellular immunology focus) to contribute towards discovery and development of novel therapies. The team works across various therapeutic areas and is geared to understanding the immunological basis of inflammation, infectious/non-infectious disease, and host-pathogen interactions in order to identify, evaluate and progress therapeutic targets and substrates for companion animals and livestock.

Responsibilities:

•Develop, adapt, and implement novel co-culture/3-D cell culture approaches to assess immunological mechanisms of disease and therapeutic targets and study complex interactions between immune cells and non-immune cells

•Characterize immunological responses in in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo model systems using multiple technical approaches

•Perform routine and complex, specialized, laboratory procedures including cell culture and immunoassays for investigators

•Work closely with the Mechanistic Biology, Genetics/Bioinformatics, Livestock Performance, and Anti-infectives groups to provide expert advice/service in co-culture/3-D cell model experimental design and to implement quality controls to assure high scientific standards

Basic Qualifications:

Suitable candidate will have a PhD in Immunology or related biomedical/biology area with a focus in immunology of infectious disease, inflammation, and/or interactions between immune cells and non-immune cells. Has extensive experience with co-culture/3-D in vitro cell culture systems to address immunobiological questions and disease-relevant investigative research. Has enthusiasm to learn new immunoassays/techniques and investigate variety of different disease areas. Has ability to work independently in research projects within area of specialization. Candidate must also be a creative/independent thinker and with a track record of research in innate immunology and peer reviewed publications.

Desired Skill sets:

•In-depth knowledge of immunology and related techniques (cellular & molecular) with emphasis in innate immunity and infectious disease
•Strong practical expertise in co-culture/3-D cell culture techniques to study immunological mechanisms of inflammation and infectious disease with translation to in vivo models

•Broad knowledge in utility/application of co-culture/3-D cell culture systems for immunology

•Strong practical expertise in a range of immunological techniques (in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro) including cell culture (primary & immortalized, immune & non-immune), ELISA (or preferably MesoScaleDisovery U-PLEX multiplex systems), immunohistochemistry, and flow cytometry

•Strong practical expertise live cell fluorescent imaging techniques (Incucyte, confocal microscopy)

•Familiarity/experience with techniques in RNA/protein isolation and qPCR/RNA-Sequencing from tissue/cell-based assay systems

•Familiarity/experience with techniques in bacterial cell culture for use in in vitro infection models
