The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to work in Coral Gables, FL.

Dr. Rebecca Bulotsky-Shearer is seeking to fill a Postdoctoral Associate position to support the work of the Miami-Dade IDEAS Consortium for Children (https://ideas.psy.miami.edu/). IDEAS Consortium is an early childhood integrated data system collaborative, between multi-system partners in the County and the University of Miami. The goal of IDEAS Consortium is to integrate data across early childhood and the K-12 school systems, analyze data to address shared research questions, to align and improve services and policies for young children.

The post-doc will be responsible for overseeing day to day research activities as they relate to community based organization neighborhood data, GIS mapping tools, training and technical assistance, and use of feedback to support place-based action plans. Postdoctoral student will assist in analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, in dissemination of findings for local and national policy and community audiences, as well as peer-reviewed publication and presentations.

The applicant should demonstrate both experience with and interest in early childhood, psychology, public health research preferably focused on community-based participatory frameworks, racial/ethnic minority children, education and well-being. The applicant will be required to affirm and empower diverse individuals and work collaboratively with both an academic and community team. The applicant should demonstrate experience with and a commitment to serving children and families from diverse racial/ethnic and immigrant communities, and children and families from low-income backgrounds.

This is a full-time research position with 2 years of guaranteed funding and the possibility for renewal after. The primary work location of this position is on the Coral Gables campus, however this role will require traveling to and engaging in data collection in local Miami communities, including areas in the Northeast Corridor/Little Haiti, Little Havana, and Overtown.

Department Responsibilities:

Research Duties

· Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data

· Publication of research manuscripts, presentations

· Development and writing of grant applications

· Development and writing of IRB applications

Project Management/Clinical Duties

· Supervise project staff and oversee day-to-day project activities

· Lead weekly meetings with team members

· Preparation of quarterly and annual project reports to funder

· Other responsibilities as necessary to ensure the successful execution of projects

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Ph.D. in Psychology or related field (in early childhood, developmental psychology, public health, special education, clinical/counseling psychology)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, in addition to a motivation for collaborative and independent research and the openness, desire, and curiosity to learn new skills and pursue new research opportunities.

  • Those with experience and training in community-based participatory and partnership-based models with early childhood programs, and in using advanced research writing, qualitative and quantitative statistical skills will receive preference.
