POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist-in-Charge, the pharmacy technician performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with departmental policies and procedures that provide optimal and safe pharmaceutical care. Participates in the inventory and management of medications, works collaboratively with members of the health care team of Compass Health Systems and is involved in pharmaceutical purchasing, general record keeping, and maintaining accounts of pharmacy purchases for Compass Health Pharmacy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – JOB SPECIFIC
• Transport medications and other pharmacy equipment to contracting facilities
• Enter physician orders
• Fill patient prescriptions for review by the pharmacist
• Prepare medications for dispensing
• Assist in the control and audit of narcotics
• Communicate and collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, clerks, and customers
• Prepare inventories, order drugs and supplies from supplier; receive drugs and stock pharmacy
• Participate in the Continuous Quality Improvement Program
• Knowledgeable in reporting and preparation of billing records
• Assist in training new employees
• Other duties as assigned

High School/GED required
WORK EXPERIENCE
• At least one (1) year experience as a pharmacy technician required
• Must have CALM protect training either upon hire or within 30 days of hire
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
• National Certification is required
• Must maintain education credits for applicable certification requirements
