Purpose:

The Performance Analyst - Chemical's objectives are to provide gross margin reporting and analysis to the Port Arthur Manufacturing Complex (PAMC) Chemicals business and ensures hydrocarbon movements are accurately recorded per the current control framework.

Responsibilities:

  • Focal point for analysis, interpretation and reporting of monthly chemical plant gross margin performance
  • Focal point for developing the chemicals margin monthly/quarterly LE
  • Focal point for developing the chemical margin section of the annual PAMC chemical plant Business Plan
  • Responsible for the effective performance of the chemical plant mass balance process during financial close
  • Monitors the accuracy and completeness of stock recording by back-office support team at Sutherland
  • Identifies and performs analysis material margin price and volume variances from Plan and communicates to business stakeholders for their understanding
  • Reviews data related to transfer prices, allocations and other margin and inventory related accounting entries to ensure results are accurate and complete
  • Prepares materials for Loss Control Committee meetings
  • Actively assesses systems, procedures, policies and practices to ensure continual work process improvements
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration
  • 5-7 years work experience in financial analysis, business planning or hydrocarbon management
  • Ability to manage and influence a diverse set of stakeholders
  • Ability to understand financial data and interpret business results
  • Strong analytical skills, or demonstrated curiosity
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills
  • Attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of Refinery, chemical complexes and/or supply trading distribution
  • Knowledge of financial systems, including SAP, and the Microsoft suite of programs a plus
  • 1-3 years work experience at a refinery, chemical complex and/or in supply trading distribution a plus
