Job Description

Pillsbury's Payroll Manager position involves overseeing the US payroll processing for multi-state payrolls & associated reconciliations; processing monthly partner distributions and (19) PC employee payrolls; and supporting other team members as needed.

Job Duties for US Payroll:

  • Oversees our Payroll Coordinator with semi-monthly, multi-state US payroll, including bonus, overtime and salary adjustments using Workday payroll and ADP for tax filing, reporting and W-2 processing. Oversee tax integration and ACH files.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll by balancing and review of summary reports; review off-cycle payroll, ensuring timely on-demand check processing and associated reports.
  • Handles escalated queries and resolves issues in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with HR, Accounting and Finance teams.
  • Final review of SSTD files and oversee information, as needed.
  • Works with ADP to ensure periodic payroll reporting and tax payments are processed in compliance with applicable federal, state and local tax laws.
  • Maintain payroll compliance for new federal, state and local legislation; and advising management of changes.
  • Develop internal controls of all payroll functions and regulatory compliance w/HR system managers.
  • Ensure data accuracy and process integrity.
  • Process general ledger report & assist with month-end accounting close.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.
  • Collaborate with HR team to manage payroll service providers.
  • Anticipate, assess, and manage issues and risks independently.
  • Quickly resolve issues when they arise, address the root cause, and recommend mitigation plans to build business resilience.


Job Duties for Monthly Partner Distributions:
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness in processing monthly distributions for self-employed partners through Workday.
  • Reconciles standard compensation arrangements prior to transmission, coordinates any special distributions and deductions; assists with monitoring retirement plan contributions; update associated monthly detailed worksheets; processed off-cycle on-demand payment processing.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with the Finance team for special monthly and quarterly compensation calculations.
  • Provides semimonthly, monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to HR and Finance teams as requested.


Job Duties for Monthly PC Employee Payrolls:
  • Close coordination with PC/Tax Manager to process monthly payrolls for (14) active and (5) inactive PC employees using Workday payroll and ADP for tax filing, reporting and W-2 processing.
  • Reconciles prior to transmission, coordinates any special tax adjustments and deductions; assists with monitoring retirement plan contributions.
  • Follow up with ADP in closing out tax accounts for dissolved PCs as needed.


Qualifications
  • CPP or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Human Resources Management, or another relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in payroll leadership, including management of in-house multi-state payroll.
  • Workday Payroll and ADP knowledge is required.
  • Hands-on experience with different Payroll, Time and Attendance, Human Resources Information Systems, and Payroll Service Providers preferred.
  • Diverse HR experience (payroll, operations, benefits, etc.) preferred.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills in a fast-paced growing environment.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support and improve operations.
  • Demonstrated delivery of results through influence and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Knowledge of multi-state wage laws.
  • Track record of maintaining a positive and collaborative work atmosphere
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information in a thoughtful manner.


Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records will be considered for the position in accordance with the California Fair Chance Act.

California and NY pay for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience is $115,000.
