IU Auditorium administers the hiring and payroll processing of all campus stagehands. Since opening its doors in 1941, IU Auditorium has served as a university and community gathering place, hosting a diverse array of world-class artists, entertainers, musicians and lecturers in our 3,200-seat theatre. As the leading performing arts organization in South Central Indiana in terms of quality, leadership, innovation, and overall guest satisfaction, IU Auditorium exists to create world-class arts and event experiences. In addition to the wide variety of arts and entertainment events, the Auditorium continues to serve as the community's gathering place, hosting a variety of university ceremonies, orientation programs, trade shows, weddings, and special events. Job Summary

Hourly stagehands unload, set up, and load equipment, scenery, lights, sound, props, rigging, and special effects for touring productions and local events in theatres, film/television/video production, athletic events, university ceremonies, concerts, and other events.

Required Qualifications

Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.

Ability to follow instructions. Reasonable mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications

Specialty skills in specific areas of interest (i.e., lighting, audio, video, carpentry, rigging, etc.) are desirable, but not essential.

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to ascend/descend ladders/stairs, to position one's self in low level positions, and to maneuver various supplies and equipment. This role requires the ability to remain in a stationary position as well as the ability to move about the workplace for long durations. This role works in a variety of indoor and outdoor locations.

Advertised Salary

Starting at $16.32 per hour.

Work Hours

This position is part-time and hours per week vary based on number and type of events on the calendar. Scheduling is per event, per venue, and via IATSE local 618.
