WHAT YOU WILL DO AT SAPUTO

• Collaborate with plant management, supervisors and packaging team to coordinate, assign, direct, review and monitor activities of supervised staff to maximize productivity, quality and maintain cost within assigned areas.
• Oversee and ensure packaging targets are achieved within assigned timeframes through effective leadership, planning, scheduling, consistent and decisive decisions, communication, and training.
• Effectively monitor and reinforce packaging requirements with staff (i.e. cheese appearance/texture/flavors, technique, finished product presentation, etc.).
• Ensure packaging, safety, GMPs and sanitation procedures are in place, understood and adhered to by all employees; conducting appropriate re-training when deficiencies are present.
• Inspect product and product packaging for conformance to specifications; directing set-up and adjustments to machines, processes, etc. as required.
• Recommend improvements to production/packaging methods, equipment performance and overall product quality.
• Understanding of cost containment and budgetary principles; managing departmental function in accordance.
• Monitor the work area to ensure that a safe environment is maintained and all plant safety rules are understood and followed. Promote a culture of ownership through open communication.
• Accurate and timely completion of assigned reports, paperwork, including production records, Master Cleaning Sanitation Lists, schedules, accident reports and investigations, and any other paperwork deemed necessary.
• Provide supervision of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management.
• Lead problem solving efforts through the facilitation of team meetings and on-the-floor leadership. Analyze and resolve work problems in a timely manner, or assist team members in solving work problems. Communicate any issues to Plant Manager, Quality Assurance, Human Resources and/or Maintenance department as needed.
• Train and instruct employees regarding production and equipment standards and processes. Oversee instruction, implementation and enforcement of policies as they relate to employees.
• Perform miscellaneous leadership duties and responsibilities as required.

WHO IS RIGHT FOR THE ROLE

• Degree preferred in Supervisory Management, Business Management, Operations Management, Food Science or similar field, or equivalent experience within the cheese/dairy industry.
• One to three years of supervisory experience in a dairy or food manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP principles.
• Fundamental understanding of packaging process (including QA protocols, cheese allocation, ingredient monitoring, equipment, scheduling/staffing, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Maestro (AS400), SAP and other computer-based applications.
