WHAT YOU WILL DO AT SAPUTO

To operate, monitor, maintain, and trouble-shoot the wastewater treatment facility and its processes. Work involves responsibility for the technical aspects of plant operations, compliance with state and federal operating regulations, and underground sewer system. Work is performed with considerable independence under the direction of the Wastewater Supervisor, subject to review through reports and results achieved.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of wastewater sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and storm water management requirements. Contact management team with any out of specification record results.
  • Accurately and neatly complete all required internal and external reports, forms and documentation;
  • Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater equipment, components, lines and services as necessary;
  • Perform the installation, maintenance and repair of the physical plant and pump stations and all of their components;
  • Conduct the required daily inspections to ensure the treatment plant and operations are in proper working order, contact management team with any deviations.
  • Perform all work in conformance to Occupational Safety and Health Act regulations.
  • Maintain open communications with management team regarding the treatment process and pump stations operation and malfunctions, as well as make recommendations for repairs and improvements to these systems.
  • In concert with plant management team, provide technical support to review proposed regulatory compliance activities to determine the potential impact on company operations.
  • Adheres to Saputo's Code of Ethics and values as a condition of employment.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as required.


WHO IS RIGHT FOR THE ROLE
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's Grade II license from the applicable State where the facility operates or the ability to obtain the certification within 12-months from date of hire.
  • A minimum of two-years as a wastewater treatment operator.
  • Be able to perform and document various tests required by State and Federal agencies for the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Perform daily and periodic checks and tests of the wastewater treatment process.
  • Have a working knowledge of the operation, methods and procedures of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Have a working knowledge of the machinery used for wastewater treatment and pumping stations.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of mechanical equipment and the ability to diagnose and correct equipment malfunction.
  • Have a working knowledge of basic machinery preventive maintenance and repair.
  • Have a basic knowledge of State and Federal rules governing wastewater discharges and worker's safety. Experience leading and following Safety/Security Policies and Procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications. Strong MS Excel skills a plus.
  • Ability to follow all Environmental Policies and Procedures, and report and follow through on any deficiencies.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.


Physical Demands and Working Environment:
  • The employee may be exposed to wet, hot, humid and cold temperatures, moving machinery including forklift traffic, and noise levels exceeding 85dB.
  • The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently throughout the shift and/or move up to 75 lbs. with assistance or material handling equipment as needed.
  • The employee is regularly required to work in an office, maintenance, and production environment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee frequently is required to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequent fine hand/finger manipulation through frequent use of personal computer equipment.
  • Exposure to water treatment chemicals to include chlorine based chemicals, reagents, oils/grease/solvents. Must wear PPE to include respirator protection, level B,C,D protection.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Skill in organization and prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines.
