Operations Production Manager


Departments: Maintenance, Sheetfed, Shrink, Warehouse

Location: Napa, California

Purpose: As amember of the North America Wine & Spirits Team, the Operations Managerplays a critical role in leading the overall department operating KPI metricsfor maintenance, sheetfed operations, shrink sleeve printing, and warehouse/rawmaterials. This role will interact with all functional areas of the plant andwill provide essential guidance on understanding and quantifying profitimprovement activities.

Primary Responsibilities

Safety:Instill a sense of self-responsibility for safety among associates. Assure thesafety of the associates and safe use of the equipment. Support the safetyprocesses and programs of the Plant. Member of Napa Safety and Health Committeefor the plant.

Model the Corporate Values andPrinciples:Conducts oneself in an appropriate and business-like and professional manner,building strong relationships both internally and externally. Instills ahigh performance, people-driven culture, providing high expectations and highsupport.

Operations: Support the growth of thevarious departments by developing a strategy plan that will enhance the currentoperational capability and capacity through leveraging sheetfed technology,shrinkprinting, maintenance, warehouse, and people.

Performance Metrics: Establish, monitor and achieveProduction operating metrics and expense budget. Establish and monitorannual goals and objectives for assigned production areas. Communicate andcascade KPI goals. Drive accountability throughout the production.

Lean Manufacturing: Participate in continuousimprovement/Kaizen teams. Develop and support a data-driven culture ofcontinuous improvement. Work to develop process improvements to reduce waste,increase productivity, and improve quality.

Maintenance: Coordinates with the MaintenanceEngineering Manager to leverage world class Maintenance principles, systems,project management, TPM tools, and best practices to ensure equipmentreadiness, maximized press utilization, and minimized downtime.

Warehouse Leadership/Raw MaterialsManagement:Lead and support the warehouse manager in all department activities. Maintainand enhance efficiencies around raw material availability for production. Inspectand protect incoming raw materials to ensure the quality and consistency ofmaterials being used at press.

Review and recommend the bestoptions for minimizing inbound and outbound freight costs; Identify andimplement costs saving initiatives in all areas of responsibilities to driveout unneeded cost out of the business.
People: In coordination with Human Resources and Plant Leadership asrequired, accomplishes human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting,orienting, training, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees;communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewingjob contributions.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of three plus years of relevant manufacturing experience, with proven ability to manage multiple managers and departments.
  • Continuous Improvement Lean Manufacturing experience needed.

Preferred:

  • Packaging or Printing knowledge
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Industrial Engineering/Technology, or related field required

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • ERP (Radius) internal and external reporting on a continuous basis
  • Raw materials management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or equivalent. The ability to create and customize presentations required. Must be proficient at creating and working with Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ability to articulate, clear, persuasive, and passionate in the spoken and written word.
  • Proven track record of leading and coordinating multiple projects.
  • Practical knowledge of CA/OSHA manufacturing industry requirements.
  • College level math, including statistical analysis. Working knowledge of budgets, estimates, and forecasting.
  • Must be able to move about the entire plant daily.
  • Reasoning Ability. Rational, logical, fact-driven decision making. Read and analyze production and productivity documents.
  • Willingness to be available as required during critical times.
