Operational Excellence Manager

In this role you will work within operations interacting with the shop floor, leadership and functional representatives to define, execute, and support the deployment and training of our Lean Operating Model (LOM) in line with organizational objectives.

What are your responsibilities?

  • Work with functional/operational leadership teams to recommend application of the appropriate Lean Six Sigma methodologies to achieve the objectives set by the business and oversee, co-ordinate/run projects and kaizen events.
  • Lead delivery of strategic operational Lean Six Sigma projects to achieve financial targets across multiple sites e.g. cost reduction.
  • Liaise with the quality team to support "Quality in the eyes of the customer" in terms of delivering support by: improving processes, fixing customer quality issues as required throughout the business.
  • Create and develop the lean/six sigma training portfolio, training material, tools and gate review processes, and improve on an ongoing basis.
  • Deliver and coordinate the delivery of lean six sigma training and certification, training of the trainers, as required.
  • Identify candidates for Yellow, Green, Black Belt program, coach and certify to the DMAIC methodology or other lean / six sigma tools and techniques.
  • Ensure projects and benefits are tracked, captured, and correctly reported to the appropriate bodies.
  • Manage the project pipeline across multiple sites
  • This position will travel between our Quebec CA and Northampton MA offices.

What do you need to be successful in this role?
  • A 'can do' attitude and the ability to integrate quickly into an organization in order to help them improve the way they work
  • Engineering / Business Degree qualified or a proven change management / continuous improvement track record
  • Certified Lean Black Belt
  • LSS (Lean Six Sigma)
  • Fluent in both English and French

Great to have?
  • 10+ years of supply chain experience
  • 5+ years of line management experience
  • 5+ years experience in change management,
  • Project / Programme management and teaching using lean and six sigma tools
  • People Management skills, i.e. the ability to lead, inspire and motivate a multidisciplinary team, work with cross-functional teams, and the ability to tailor communication skills to different personalities
  • Proven coaching results
  • Multiple industry / sector / functional experience
  • Able to communicate the approach needed for successful project delivery
  • Proven problem-solving skills
  • Strong customer focus
  • Run and complete customer-facing projects as required
  • Strong track record in working effectively to project timescales, budgets and goals
  • Structured and logical approach
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Hands-on approach
  • Challenge constructively, deliver results, add value
  • Use of / good understanding of Minitab 18
