Description:

  • Provides day to day coordination of the CT Lung Screening Program and supports all efforts related to guiding and managing patients through the screening process.
  • Works with the Thoracic Oncology Program (primarily with the Tulane Interventional Pulmonology physicians), Radiology, and referring provider offices and clinics to facilitate screening and follow up imaging.
  • Oversees all aspects of the Lung Screening Database including collecting required data elements, data entry, reporting to CMS or other organizations, enhancements to the database, and assisting with data analysis and reporting as needed.
  • Responsible for facilitating meetings and presenting program data.
  • Assist in scheduling procedures and following up results from procedures performed by the Interventional Pulmonologist.
  • Responds to phone calls from patients, pharmacies, etc. to meet patient's needs.
  • Works under direction of Director of Interventional Pulmonary
  • Sees patients with pulmonary nodules and patients in the perioperative setting of Interventional Pulmonary procedures.
  • Assists in data collection for clinical trials and research projects
  • Prescribes, delegates and coordinates care to the patient through the process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation of patients. Conducts and documents age appropriate assessments of patients, including history taking, physical examination in an on-going systematic manner. Orders, performs, or interprets the results of diagnostic tests and appropriate labs and screening procedures based on assessment results, differential diagnoses, and knowledge about age, gender and health status of clients. Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual and cognitive status, patient/family education, family involvement and patient advocacy. Collaborates with supervising physician(s) for appropriateness of treatment especially for patients with complex medical conditions, escalates to physician as appropriate and as deemed necessary.

Qualifications:

Current Louisiana License as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Master's degree, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; or higher degree with concentration in speciality.

American Heart Association/Basic Life Support-HCP and ACLS licenses.

Three (3) years of clinical experience in the outpatient setting preferred
