The Midwife will be responsible for:

  • Assume management responsibility of a caseload of obstetrical and gynecological patients selected.
  • Provides prenatal care to patients which includes physical assessment, patient education, nursing care and management of problems in accordance with approved nurse midwifery guidelines.
  • Collaborates with the health care team in planning and implementing care for obstetrical and gynecological patients.
  • The individual in this position must demonstrate appropriate knowledge of the principals of growth and development with newborn, adolescent and adult patient population.
  • Provides patient care in Antepartum and deliveries.

To qualify you must have:
  • Education: Graduate of an approved program of Midwifery. Masters Degree required. Doctorate Degree preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of midwifery experience required. Spanish speaking preferred.
  • Licensure: Authorization to practice as registered nurse in Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • Current certification by American Midwifery Certification Board.
    • Authorization to practice in the expanded role in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
    • Registration to issue controlled substances with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
    • Registration to issue controlled substances with Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Other: Membership in professional organizations is recommended and certification in a specialty area is encouraged.
  • Weekend Rotation per MNA Contract.
