Job Title: Manager on Duty
Division: Operations
Department: Passenger and Cargo Services
Reports To: Deputy Manager
SUMMARY
Coordinates and follows up on activities by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manages operational coordination (staff schedules / ground support equipment) for both Passenger and Cargo departments.
- Ensures carrier expectations are met for a professional and safe working environment and that departures are on-time.
- Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
- Communicates daily with airline customer regarding cargo, load/unload requirements, ramp/parking requirements, flight schedules, and any other requests (horse stalls, etc.).
- Ensure Station complies with all company standards and procedures (safety, training, operations and administration).
- Executes on action plans to meet operational and organizational objectives.
- Implements company practices and policies with Supervisors, Leads, and Ramp Agents.
- Ensure proper scheduling of Supervisors, Leads and Agents.
- Monitor’s employees’ actual hours versus budgeted production hours.
- Assigns Agents based on equipment certifications (use master training list) or other special certifications (Dash 8, cross-trained warehouse/ramp, etc.).
- Coordinates cross-utilization of manpower between the various business lines on a regularly scheduled basis.
- Coordinate the delivery of export cargo to ramp with airline/service provider and adjusts crew schedules accordingly.
- Ensures that out-of-service equipment is recorded in the maintenance log and maintenance responds to reported issues, and that the GSE Board information is current.
- Ensures each ramp is equipped with sufficient in-service equipment for every operation.
- Check ramp status (FOD, GSE Staging, Snow/Ice removal, etc.).
- Perform (in flight) operation audits on a routine basis.
- Conduct pre/post operational briefings with Supervisors.
- Assists in the hiring and training of personnel and the coordination of new hire paperwork.
- Conduct performance evaluations on team members.
- Ensures employees are complying with the company’s uniform policy and dress code.
- Monitors attendance and works with HR on infractions and record keeping.
- Handles disciplinary matters in coordination with HR and Management.
- Holds regular Supervisor meetings to ensure staff is informed of issues, changes, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs and coordinates the operations of two or more departments through subordinate supervisors. Sets up performance standards, checks progress, sees that organization policies are carried out. Responsible for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring of employees; planning, assigning, scheduling, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
B.A. or B.S. Degree from a four-year college or university; and over five years up to and including seven years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
ADP MS Outlook Communication Management software

  • MS Excel Spreadsheet software
  • MS Word Word Processing software
Internet Usage and PC and/or MAC and Windows Usage experience
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS
- Valid State Driver’s License
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the State Labor Code
- Familiarity with OSHA requirements
- Data entry skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong verbal/written skills and organizational skills
- Excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills
Able to score at least 90% on TAS Manager test
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- May occasionally be asked to run local errands.
- Security Clearance, (for airport security purposes) pass a 10-year background screening.
