Job Description

The Missouri University of Science and Technology is anticipating the need to employ an assistant research professor in mining engineering. Candidate is expected to teach at least one mining engineering course, and perform research that investigates the effectiveness of various chemical products on the suppression of an acid aerosol mist generated in an industrial process. The one-year project will be funded by a consortium of large international companies, as well as the mining engineering program at Missouri S&T. Continued funding is available based on the first-year performance. The expected start date will be January 1st, 2022.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • PhD in engineering, chemistry or physics,

  • Formal teaching experience in underground and surface mining methods,

  • Significant hands-on laboratory experience with demonstrated capability to construct, troubleshoot and operate of larger experimental apparatus,

  • Experience in aerosol analysis and suppression,

  • Ability to perform basic chemical procedures including creation 20 liter solution samples accurately, acid-base titrations, and conduct electrodeposition experiments

  • Strong technical report writing with data analysis

  • Proficient in spoken English

The project will supply the successful candidate with a very competitive salary including benefits. Pay level is dependent on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
