Job Summary

This position is responsible for the primary coordination of the Med Ed Lab schedules and preparation. This position may also operate and maintain Med Ed laboratory equipment; assist surgeons, and support Medical Education staff during training sessions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

· Schedule full time and temporary employees for upcoming Surgical Skills Courses and Development Labs
· Inventory and order anatomical material
· Order general lab supplies
· Schedule lab equipment service
· Support Med Ed Managers in preparing for Surgical Skills courses
· Maintain all lab records including, but not limited to: specimens, radiology, safety inspections, sterilization and washer/disinfection equipment
· Process all chargeback's for each Development Lab
· Assist Med Ed staff and surgeons during Med Ed training sessions
· Operate orthopedic surgical support systems including, but not limited to: fluoroscopy, CAOS and Steris equipment
· Decontaminate equipment and instrumentation in the lab

Expected Areas of Competence

* Must have demonstrated ability to mentor new or less experienced personnel

* Must have demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

* Must have demonstrated excellence in customer service, relationship building, and team work skills

* Must be able to work with minimal supervision

* Must be able to learn and independently assist with all surgical techniques

* Must be able to coordinate and schedule multiple personnel for multiple locations

* Must be able to work with Anatomical Materials

* Must be able to lift 50 plus pounds of anatomical materials and equipment

* Must be able to work some evenings and weekends

Education/Experience Requirements

* Must have High School Diploma or General Education Diploma equivalent.
* Associate Degree in technical field or previous experience in peri-operative setting required
* Prefer surgical Technical Certification
* Basic working experience with Microsoft Office
* Prefer experience working with and cleaning lab and surgical equipment
* Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and medical terminology is preferable
* Must become Blood Born Pathogen Certified
* Must have Tuberculosis Test if participating in live surgery
* Must be able to wear Lead Vest

Travel Requirements

* Up to 5%
