L'OREAL: Director, Global Consumer Market Research

Overview: Manage global consumer insights for the brand and delivery of research projects on time and in budget.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be the voice of the consumer to advance consumer understanding across all Maybelline DMI (global) squads
  • Cultivate strong collaborative relationships across Brand Innovation and Experience teams in order to plan and execute consumer research for the year
  • Develop, design, and manage all insights projects for the DMI (e.g. concepts, products, packs, merchandising, philanthropy, digital)
  • Develop approach, design and execute study, manage vendors and costs, and present findings to teams
  • Use wide variety of qualitative and quantitative techniques and tools
  • Manage 'Makeup Makers' online community for custom projects
  • Create yearly plan for community in collaboration with Brand Innovation and Experience category heads
  • Plan, develop, and execute projects from approach to survey development to analysis and results reporting
  • Actively manage agency community manager on all projects
  • Conduct regular improvement reviews to optimize use of community
  • Lead annual contract process (renewal or new bids) and ensure continuity of service
  • Manage existing vendor relationships and cultivate new ones that can enhance the insights capability
  • Be on the forefront on new insight techniques and tools
  • Manage vendors from new vendor creation to contract execution and agreements
  • Leverage social listening tools to gather insights for teams as they develop new innovations and experiences (e.g. fashion week, PR events, ingredient stories)
  • Leverage shopper insights learnings from Corporate to assist Brand Experience squad with consumer touchpoint development at retail, mobile, and online
  • Partner with Trends Lead to plan, support, and execute Consumer Centricity initiatives for the team for greater trend and consumer immersion
  • Support Consumer Trends & Insights Lead in the overall project and budget planning for the year
  • Support Analytics teams on sellout information utilizing NPD, Nielsen, and IRI data
  • Understand full-portfolio and plan for market research, and deputize for Consumer Trends & Insights lead where needed
  • Attend consumer insights events
  • Participate and ensure expertise and insights sharing, innovation and upskilling
Deliverables:
  • Reports, Insights and Recommendations based on market research findings
  • Consumer centricity in the Brand
  • Research-based decision making
Job Requirements:
  • 7+ years of related business experience
  • Experience in running and managing Global Market Research projects highly desired
  • Consumer package goods or beauty industry experience is preferred
  • PC Proficiency (Microsoft Suite)
  • In depth knowledge of market research methodologies (quantitative and qualitative)
  • Information & Data management
