Marketing and Communication Internship - Web Development/Database Management Overview

The Marketing and Communication Intern will learn from and be supervised by the Vice-President, Budgets and Analytics, as well as the Community Outreach Lead to improve and maintain the agency's e-commerce platform. Key to this role is the ability to enhance the look, feel and overall ease of use of this web-based platform, as well as to provide support in the inventory and data management of the virtual store.

Learning Goals consist of understanding and execution on:

• UI/UX development to attract and maintain appeal to the non-profit sector
• Database development & maintenance for an e-commerce platform

Ideal interns will demonstrate the following:

Web Applications Developer - Entry Level

• Designs, develops, and maintains internal and external websites
• Uses knowledge of common web development languages (HTML, Java, PHP, JSP, ASP.NET, Python) to build and expand site functionality
• Creates and enhances the overall website appearance using graphic/multi-media design software
• Designs site navigation that is clear and easily understood
• Ensures sites remain scalable while complying with performance and security standards
• Update site content based on input from development
• Document changes in source code

List of needs specific to Resource Center:

• Maintain and post product in Magento
• E-Commerce experience so they can maintain the store and make changes to the 'store front'
• Work with program designee on maintaining customer relations and access by customers to the e-store.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirement(s):

• High school diploma
• Prefer current or recent enrollment in a web/graphic design and/or database management curriculum
• Ability to pass criminal background and urine screen
