We have an exciting opportunity for a Market Development Manager, Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of professionals to define and implement new electric power product programs. The role requires extensive industry knowledge, a detailed understanding of dealer operations and customer requirements together with in depth knowledge of Caterpillar electric power product, strategy and business practices.

The primary function of the role is the link between the dealer / sales organizations and the product group.

What you will do:

  • Understand competitive landscape. - Detailed understanding of major competitors, their products, strategies and distribution network, through 'in the iron' competitive benchmarking and attendance of International trade shows.
  • Provide direction to the marketing and sales groups on product features and benefits for new product introductions.
  • Create detailed product functional specifications for new product introductions and establish and monitor RMI metrics.
  • Establish pricing strategy for new product introductions.
  • Identify opportunities for new products. Create a 2-year prioritized list of new programs, together with supporting commercial business cases.
  • People management - manage staff, including PDP process.
  • The position manages a work unit of primarily management/professional employees where monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required as well as training, developing and mentoring. The position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates.

Typical internal customers include various contacts in a portion of Caterpillar worldwide operations. External contacts include various customers and vendors throughout worldwide markets. The position often confronts complex issues or problems which require careful analysis and diagnosis. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require original approaches. The incumbent may modify existing approaches or develop new solutions. The incumbent establishes and then monitors general policies and guidelines for projects under his/her control to ensure specific, management goals are met, and desired results are achieved. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Timeliness, Efficiency, Cost Savings, etc. The position works to develop innovative processes or methods to best use resources or technology in meeting the quality goals.

The position is required to travel frequently; up to 50%.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A college or university degree or equivalent experience.
  • Thirteen to fifteen years of progressively responsible job-related experience.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Broad company knowledge and strong understanding of dealer operations
  • The position requires thorough knowledge of company products and product applications, market trends, merchandising programs, and/or warranty practices and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills and high business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.
Domestic relocation to Dallas, Texas headquarters is offered for this position.
