Primary Function of Position:

An Equipment technician providing mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and repairs for Manufacturing and Test equipment used to produce minimally invasive medical devices for the Ion robotic-assisted endoluminal platform.  In addition, this candidate will assist the Ion Equipment Engineering staff in equipment assembly, testing, rebuild, and validation. This manufacturing and test equipment will range in complexity from custom manual fixtures to semi-automated electro-mechanical systems. 

This position will play a critical role in sustaining Ion production and assisting the engineering development and implementation of cutting-edge manufacturing capabilities for Ion operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs assembly, installation, troubleshooting, and repairs on electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing processes.
    • Read mechanical drawings, electrical wiring and pneumatic diagrams
    • Install, diagnose, and repair equipment at assembly and component level
    • Troubleshoot equipment software under supervision.
  • Work with Preventive Maintenance team to perform PM procedures on a periodic basis.
  • Support activities related to equipment qualification and process validation
  • Work with Equipment engineering staff and other teams to contribute ideas and improvement regarding the design, maintenance, or process of manufacturing equipment.
  • Review/maintain spare parts for equipment
  • Work overtime when necessary to support high priority requests or meet project goals.
  • Perform other duties as needed to assist with Equipment engineering projects

 

Skill/Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED required. Associate of Science Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience of relevant electrical/mechanical tests, troubleshooting, and repair. Vocational or technical education or certification in addition to prior work experience a plus.
  • Experience in equipment used in catheter and similar manufacturing process preferred
  • Experience in assembly of mechatronics components such as sensors, motion and vision components
  • Uses a variety of hand, power, and test tools and equipment; machining experience a plus
  • Basic wiring (AC/DC), cabling, and electronics knowledge; handling ESD-sensitive components a plus
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethics, flexible, organized
  • Works well with others in a supportive and dynamic team environment
  • Able to effectively communicate ideas and issues to Equipment staff and other teams
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, such as Word and Excel; SAP a plus
  • Experience working in a clean room environment a plus
  • Lift up to 50 pounds to a workbench under ideal conditions
  • Able to travel periodically (5%)
