ANDRITZ Metals USA designs and builds equipment for the processing of carbon steel, stainless steel, and non-ferrous metal including pickling lines, coating lines, levelers, cut to length lines, slitting lines, as well as continuous or batch furnaces for reheating slabs, blooms, billets, and structural shapes. We specialize in supplying parts and services for rolling mills and strip processors and provide a wide range of mechanical and electrical components for ANDRITZ equipment, as well as for many other brands in the industry.

The Role

Under the direction of the Working Shop Supervisor , the Manual Machinist is responsible for set up and operation of the 5" Horizontal Boring Mill Machine.

Requirements

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Key Result Items

• Receives drawings and instructions.
• Loads material into the machine with a crane positions & clamp.
• Aligns workpiece and spindle manually.
• Sets readout dials to position, insert tool, and activates cycle button.
• Changes tooling.
• Checks first piece.
• Operates machine select proper speed and setup.
• Unloads finished pieces.
• Reports any errors, defective material, or faulty equipment.
• Performs minor repairs.
• Grinds/ tools if required.
• Lubricates equipment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly area.

Job Specific Competencies

• Ability to use 3 axis, auxiliary equipment, micrometers, calipers, indicators, gauges and misc hand tools.
• Judgement to plan and perform set up of the equipment.

Education and Experience

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years' experience.
